Your Brake System is the stopping power of your car. More important than making your car go, your brake system should be properly maintained at all times. We offer a free inspection for your Brake System, just stop by the shop and ask our staff to evaluate your vehicle.
When you press your brake pedal, a hydraulic system is activated putting pressure on the brake pads to contact the rotor (or drum in some cases). This simply creates friction between the pad and the rotor (or shoes and drum) slowing the wheel speed and slowing the vehicle. The pressure applied to the pedal is proportional to the pressure applied to the pads/rotors. The harder you press the pedal, the slower the car goes or more rapidly is brought to a stop.
There are other components in your Brake System, but these are the more common ones you will hear discussed when maintaining your vehicle's Brake System. Other than pads and rotors (or shoes and drums when applicable), you may need to discuss a master cylinder, brake booster, caliper, or wheel cylinder depending on your vehicle's age and specific needs. These are all part of the Brake System and the heat from friction/use can cause these parts to wear and need to be replaced over time as well.
Our Basic Brake Service starts at $25 per corner plus parts. Remember, depending on age and wear, you could only need new pads or you may need additional components replaced. We will inspect and evaluate your Brake System's needs FOR FREE. Stop by the shop anytime and speak to our Team!
