The life of your engine truly is the lubrication it receives. Changing your oil regularly will not only extend the over-all life of your vehicle but increase performance and efficiency as well.
Your engine creates combustion, whether it is a gasoline engine or diesel. The motion of the moving parts within the engine creates friction. Both combustion and friction generate heat and heat is the enemy. We can't control the heat generated through combustion, but the friction we can do something about through the use of oil. Oil lubricates the moving parts allowing them to move more freely and smoothly, reducing friction and heat. Now we have reduced the wear on the engine.
As the oil is exposed to heat, it too will begin to degrade and break down over time. This is why changing the oil regularly is so important. If the oil isn't doing its job, we are putting wear on the engine.
Many newer cars are recommended by the manufacturer that the oil be changed between 7,500 and 10,000 miles. A good rule of thumb, if you are under warranty and want to keep that warranty, follow your vehicle's manufacturer's recommendations. On older vehicles, 3,000 to 5,000 miles is acceptable. Obviously changing it more often will keep the oil fresh and protect the engine better.
Our oil change starts at $12 if you bring your own oil and filter. Some vehicles are equipped with a skid plate that has to be removed in order to service them, this is an additional $15. If the vehicle is a diesel, there is an additional charge. If you have us dispose of your used engine oil, there is also a $2.50 disposal fee. We also can use our oil and filter if you would prefer, please call the store for a price quote 423 305 1133.
Changing your oil is a necessity. There are other services your car needs that you can time with your oil change schedule for convenience and to maintain your vehicle properly.
